You might be crazy if you don’t want to earn income your first week as a blogger. I’ve been dreaming about blogging full time for awhile now. I knew it would take hard work, dedication and time. So I was completely surprised to find that within a week of starting my blog I already earned some income!
Not everyone blogs for profit but if you would like to earn an income in your first week as well then keep reading to find out how I accomplished this first step!
I’ll break it down for you step-by-step exactly what I did that helped me earn my first paycheck in less than a week.
Step 1: Set up SiteGround and WordPress
Think of WordPress as your car and SiteGround is your parking space. Both are necessary for a successful blog!
If you already have a blog, you can move on to step 2.
First of all, you need to find a host for your blog. Luckily, I’ve already done the research for you and the best host in my opinion is SiteGround. You’ll get a discount when you sign up since I’ve partnered with them! Since the overall objective is to make money and not spend it, I promise this is the only thing I suggest you spend money on. SiteGround is very inexpensive, has great support and unlike other hosts, they rarely have downtime. SiteGround will give you a domain as well so start thinking of creative names!
Next, you need to set up your WordPress.org account. This is actually really simple and SiteGround can walk you through the process. Overall, I think I spent 5-10 minutes doing these two steps so don’t feel overwhelmed by it all. Setting up a blog does not have to be difficult!
Step 2: Install the Shareaholic plugin.
Plugins are what make your blog unique. Each blogger has their must-have list but the best plugin I installed was Shareaholic. While I initially installed Shareaholic as a means to share my blog posts, I found out that it also gives you several revenue streams! You don’t even have to take any extra steps like applying to affiliate networks. Shareaholic automatically turns links into affiliate links if there is one out there. In addition, it also allows you to place ads such as the one you may see on the bottom of my blog if you’re on desktop. Lastly, you can also use their “related content” feature. This will add related articles to the bottom of your blog post. You choose a mix between your own posts and outside posts and clicks to outside posts will earn you income!
Step 3: Gain traffic to your site.
This is probably the trickiest part of earning your first paycheck as a blogger. It will take some trial and error. What works for one blogger does not always work for everyone else. The two social media platforms that have worked best for me have been Pinterest and Facebook. I recommend joining a few Facebook groups and a few group boards on Pinterest. In addition, you could also promote your posts on either platform but keep in mind that will cost you. I have a very small budget that I use for Pinterest advertising which has helped me gain immediate traffic to my new site.
I hope these tips help you to earn income your first week as a blogger! If you’re a blogger, what tips have you found to help you earn money right away as a new blogger?
